I love the first game of the season! It gives the coach a chance to see what is working, what isn't....Opened at St. Anne's Catholic School... always good competition. On the B team, Elin Morgan had a nice game at the net and Angela Vu was our most consistent server. Work needs to be done on communication and moving to the ball. Scores: 11-25, 25-20, 4-15.
The A team began their season with a win. I believe this team will do well this year. Nicole Berkeland is a quiet competitor, leads by example. Aimee Arash-Ajai has the skill to be a game changer. She was our best server last night. Work needs to be done on transition and communication. Scores: 25-22, 25-16

Always expecting a competitive game when we travel to Cypress Christian. This was our first District match of the 2016 season. B team wins easily in 2 games, 25-10, 25-9. Lily Petty led in the serving game tonight. Hope Leach made some nice plays at the net.
The A team also won in 2 but not as easily, 25-16, 25-23. Emma Beckstead was our most consistent server. Jakayla Davis is our leading communicator and is becoming a factor on the back row.

Middle School VB defeats HCYA. Both A and B teams set up some nice attack plays. Abi Beckham has learned to control her serve and was our leading server tonight. Macy Ingram brought her front row game up tonight.

HCYA warm-up for the A team looks strong. I think this will be a good game for the Cougars, and game 1 was competitive. Nice rallies - Cougars win 25-18. NCS puts it together in game 2 and we win 25-12. Aimee Arash-Ajai has a legit kill, followed by a great net play. Addy Westerby picked up her game on the front row as a setter and got 2 nice quick tips. Gianna Zagone improving her back row play.

Improved the attacking game today - Hope Leach and Elin Morgan were a team. Aimee Arash-Ajai was on a roll tonight - serving and hitting! She served 11 in a row the first game and 10 in a row the second game. Go girl! Meredith Langdon becoming a stronger communicator on and off the court. Scores: 25-9, 25-12

Scores: 25-21, 25-9

Serving and adjustments made the A team a winner tonight. We only had 2 serving errors. Katie Hunt came in to help. J and G kept the back row alive. Nothing spectacular to report on the front, but I was proud of the way the girls pulled together. Scores: 25-18, 25-23

The C team played their last game of the season and pulled another victory!  Serving won this game. In the second game, our first server, Ally Wiley, served 12 in a row. Our second server, Payton Hudson, finished the game with 12 in a row! Spectacular performance. Kudos to Danielle Dewbre and the Hearn twins for the work at the net. Proud of the finish this group put together. Scores: 25-12, 25-2

Maybe it was the country air in Huntsville ~ the B team started and finished strong!

Serving, passing, and hitting. I was so proud of their performance. Scores: 25-20, 25-14

Conversely, the A team could not pull it together. Not sure what had us so off today, but we are going to fix it, so much potential here. Scores: 11-25, 16-25

B team struggles in game 1, loses 23-25.  Comes back strong in game 2, 25-14.

Nip and tuck in game 3 but we pull a win, 15-11.  Hannah Navid and Hope Leach strong on the front row.  Madeleine Hearn improving as a setter.

Sloppy warm-up and too much playing around for the A team, causes a slow start.

At 9-12, NCS coach calls a time out and has a few choice words.....

Team snaps into place and wins.  Score: 25-21, 25-12.

Katie Hunt and Maya Robinson come off the bench to contribute this evening.
