The swim team at Northland is a small but dynamic group. This High School sport practices from mid-October to mid-February, three days a week after school. The Northland Swim Team competes in meets with local public schools and attends four to five meets before participating in the TAPPS Region II Swim Meet in February. Swimmers who make qualifying times advance to State.

Each swimmer can enjoy the success of both individual and team achievements.

Northland High School Swim Team ends their season with two state finalists

swim teamThe Northland swim team, in its second year under the guidance of Coach Silvia Kroeck, grew to eight swimmers and enjoyed success at local, regional, and state levels. After competing in various local meets, three swimmers qualified for regionals which were held at the University of Houston’s Natatorium in January. Two of the regional qualifiers progressed to represent Northland in the TAPPS Division III State Championship Meet held in Mansfield, Texas.

The TAPP state finalists for this year were sophomore Austin Broussard, placing 7th in the men’s 50yard freestyle, and 10th in the 100yard freestyle. Freshman Makenzie Hoffman placed 13th in the women’s 100yard freestyle, and 16th in the 200yard individual medley.

Congratulations to these swimmers and all their hours of hard work!!
