At Northland Christian, we believe athletics is a proving ground for building and growing the next generation of Christian leadership.
We have built a team of coaches with high-level technical skills in their sport. We strive to train our athletes as if they will compete at the collegiate level. This includes intense physical training, as well as concepts that are utilized at the collegiate and professional levels. Our coaches have the highest expectations for the athletes on campus, and Northland Christian athletes deliver time and time again.
We aim and build for championships, but championships don’t define us. Trophies and medals may lose their luster, but the character development that occurs through hard work, playing through adversity, and being a contributing member of a fiercely competitive team with a common goal is lifelong.
Our coaching staff is proud to graduate student athletes that are prepared to take on the challenges of college, the workplace, and the ever-changing world. Our student athletes graduate with lifelong memories, lifelong friends, and the tools to be scholars and leaders with a Christian worldview.
I went to Angelina Junior college to play baseball for 2years before getting drafted by the Cubs and playing professionally for 11 years. Towards the middle of my career I started back going to University of Phoenix Online to get my degree in business management. Since retiring I have been coaching and teaching the game as well as running the Houston Heat Select Baseball organization.
I have 3 kids, Jerzie (12), Easton (8), and Beckett (3). The older two play softball and baseball and various other sports. My youngest is very interested in baseball already and ready to follow the older two’s footsteps. We like to go camping in our RV and travel for sports across the state and country.
I am a woodworker by hobby and have done projects that I have sold as well. I love getting out of the baseball mindset and building something from nothing. I also like to golf even though I don’t get to do that much.
I love passing on my knowledge of the game and relating it to life lessons. I love being able to get a player to see things differently and helping them reach new heights in their career spiritually and physically.
